Sunset Sail Cancelled

Due to a complete lack of interest in the club’s activities by the members, I’m going to go ahead and cancel the sunset sail scheduled for this weekend.  Next semester’s sailing club will be quite different, and will cater to what we’ve learned to expect this semester from members.  There will only be a couple of formal events and we’re going to continue to try and get Dr. Goff to teach sailing on some weekends.

Purple Turtle Trip

Ahoy Sailors!

Our next event will be this Saturday, July 19th, at 10 am.  It will be a sail to Purple Turtle for lunch and maybe some beach time there if you guys are up for it.  Purple Turtle has a lovely beach (especially for Dominica) with plenty of palm trees to rest beneath.  Bring money for lunch if you want lunch there (they have tasty burgers).  This is our second to last planned event for the semester so if you’re looking to get more sailing experience, this is one of your last chances to do it.  You are, as always, welcome to bring friends along.  We’re going to only charge $10EC per guest for this particular event as a special deal.

PLEASE RSVP if you are sure you are attending this event.  I will send out an email early Saturday morning if the weather looks unfavorable, so don’t forget to check your email before you leave.  Email me or call me if you have any questions (285-0404).  See you there!

Secret Beach Trip

When: 10 am, Saturday Morning (May 31st)

Where: Coconuts

Come out for a sailing trip to Secret Beach! We will leave from Coconuts Beach just after 10 am so PLEASE be on time! BRING A BATHING SUIT! You will get wet and you’ll probably want to go snorkeling too. If you have snorkeling gear, bring it. We will pass around what gear we have to everyone who wants to see the reef. We should be done by noon. If we aren’t and some of you need to leave, I will personally sail you to shore around that time, just let me know.

This is also the last chance for you to sign up and pay your membership dues. If you know anyone who would like to join, please have them get in contact with me ASAP. If you want to bring a friend just for this event, the cost for them is $20 EC per person ($7.50 US).

Lastly we plan on having refreshments to bring with us. Please let me know what you would like so I can go out and get it. You can post a comment to this post with your requests.

Saturday Event: Discover Sailing

Come out and join us at Coconuts and learn to sail with us!  If you have sailing experience, this is your opportunity to show your stuff to me so you can be an official sailing club captain.

Start Time: 10:00am
Location: Coconuts
What to bring: Bathing suit and towel, you will get wet, membership dues if you haven’t paid.

If you have friends who would like to join or just want to come to learn how to sail, the cost for non-members for this event is $20 EC.

Directions to Coconuts:  Walk to PBH (Portsmouth Beach Hotel) and onto the beach.  Turn left at the beach and walk towards the large pink building on the beach with sailboats in front of it.

We’re glad you’re interested in our club!  Please excuse us as we get our site up and running.

Joining the sailing club doesn’t require any sailing experience.  We provide the opportunity to learn how to sail on our catamarans to everyone.  Even if you just want to come along and ride on one of our boats with us, we still welcome you to join!  Our goal here is first and foremost to make sure everyone has fun.

Membership fees come in two flavors:

Basic Option “Junior Member”: $30 EC

• All sailing club sponsored events are free (6 in total planned)
• Enjoy use of the boats anytime with up to 3 friends for a discounted rate of $45 EC/hour.

Unlimited Option “Full Membership”: $300 EC

• All sailing club sponsored events are free (6 in total planned)
• Unlimited use of the boats anytime with up to three friends for free.

We also have club t-shirts in various styles and sizes for $30 EC each.

The cost for any single event or activity for non-members is $20 EC (excluding the Beach Bash).  Check the calendar for a list of events.
